Book Review: Queen of the Waves

Jacqueline Abington has it all: beauty, wealth and a powerful family that gives her everything she desires.  When Jacquie becomes engaged to one of her father's powerful business associates, it appears that she is everything she's ever wanted.  But Jacquie is in love with the family gardener.  Desperate to escape an arranged marriage and marry the man that she loves, Jacquie asks another woman to take her place on the maiden voyage of the Titanic, allowing her and her beloved to escape undetected.  Her replacement, Tessa Bowen, must suddenly step into the life of an heiress, a role she has certainly never played as the daughter of a drunken, bitter farmer.

Aboard the Titanic, Tessa finds that she is able to begin a new life.  She encounters an exciting group of people, and becomes almost instantly enthralled with handsome American Nathan Patterson.  But when the Titanic strikes an iceberg, and the ship begins to sink, will Tessa's dreams of a new life go down with the ship?

In Queen of the Waves, author Janice Thompson has composed a tale of tragedy and redemption in this retelling of the devastating fate of the Titanic.  Tessa's story is one that is sure to resonate with readers, as she begins to learn to embrace the idea of a new life, all while struggling to forgive her father for the abuse he committed against her in the past.  For lovers of historical fiction, this story is a must-read.
