Ever since I read The Clouds Roll Away, I've been addicted to Sibella Giorello's books about FBI agent Raleigh Harmon. That's why I was thrilled when I was offered the chance to be a part of the Litfuse book tour for the latest novel in the series, The Stars Shine Bright.
This time, Raleigh's back in the Seattle office, and under investigation for her actions during a case on an Alaskan cruise, where she used less than reputable means to catch a killer. Despite that, however, the FBI presents her with an opportunity to go undercover as the niece of a wealthy horse owner who believes that someone is fixing races.
But aside from being forced to act like a woman of privilege, Raleigh's got other things on her mind, like the fact that she'll be reporting to Jack Stephanson, an agent who could be a friend or foe. And on top of everything else, her fiance DeMott wants her to settle down, and she's still dealing with the ramifications of her mother's mental breakdown.
When Raleigh decides to spend the night at the stable because she's concerned about a horse, she is shocked when she wakes up to a stall in flames. Suddenly her "Aunt" Eleanor's suspicions about the horses and races are heading to a dangerous place, and Raleigh can't help but wonder just what she's gotten herself into.
As always, Sibella Giorello's Raleigh Harmon is a smart, kick-butt heroine whose cases are fascinating and often heart-stopping. This case is no exception. If you like suspenseful novels, you'll love the latest installment of Raleigh's story.
